University Undergraduate Advising Committee

The University Undergraduate Advising Committee (UUAC) aims to enhance the practice of advising and mentoring at the University of Pittsburgh by sharing ideas, best practices, and information for undergraduate academic advisors and mentors. The UUAC is comprised of three groups:, Directors of Advising Standing Subcommittee (A), Faculty Mentoring and Advising Standing Subcommittee (B), and UUAC All-Group (C). Additional subcommittees may be formed based on identified work of the UUAC.

Membership Conditions

  • One-year appointment by the college/school/campus/unit of which you represent (often the same member can be renewed each year; see membership list)
  • Attend all meetings or send a proxy in your place; see schedule of meetings
  • Review agenda items beforehand and meeting notes afterward
  • Suggest topics for discussion
  • Speak on behalf of your unit for meeting topics (e.g., training, resources)
  • Update the UUAC on changes and updates in your unit
  • Utilize, promote and advocate for advising and mentoring resources (e.g., Advisor Toolbox, Pitt ACT)
  • Actively engage in UUAC communication strategy and relay information back to your unit (e.g., training and professional development opportunities, resource information)
  • Advocate for advising and mentoring as a priority for the University of Pittsburgh as we “aim to prepare students for lives of impact through educational experiences tailored to the specific goals and needs of each student.”

Each of the three groups (A, B, C) will have membership list-serves of which the Chair will share information and updates. Members will be expected to share this information with their respective units. The form below can be utilized for members to share ideas (e.g., topics for meeting discussion, additional resources) and suggestions for feedback.
